Students have three options for completing program requirements for the TM degree.
You may complete 24 credit hours of coursework and 6 credit hours of thesis research. The thesis must be successfully defended to a committee of at least three faculty members. Successful defense of the thesis constitutes satisfying the final examination requirement.
You may complete 32 credit hours of coursework of which 1-3 credits is an independent study project. The project must include a formal report and presentation to your committee. Successful presentation of the project constitutes satisfying the final examination requirement.
You may complete 32 credit hours of coursework. You must then successfully pass a comprehensive examination over that coursework. This final comprehensive examination is administered by your program committee. Usually the final examination is in the form of a 1-2 hour oral examination over the coursework.
