With results like
these, you might think we'd be willing to rest
on our laurels. Far from it! When
it comes to student learning and continuous
improvement, we are never satisfied. After
all, prospective employers have a choice and if
you can find better industrial engineering and
engineering management graduates elsewhere, you
should hire them. The entire
engineering education community is moving - our
goal is remain at the forefront of that
movement. If they don't stop to rest,
neither should we. When it comes to
listening to industry, we hear you and we have
responded on a whole new level of research based
best practices and rigorous assessment.
The data speaks for itself and it seems pretty
clear that IEEM graduates can compete with the
best the country has to offer. We don't
see that changing anytime soon.
But it doesn't
stop there. What we have done for student
learning, we can do for South Dakota and
regional industry. You want to improve
quality, we can help. You want to increase
value in the supply chain, we can help.
You want to develop enterprise teams, we can
help. You want to move to ISO
certification, we can help. You want to
understand 5S, Six Sigma, lean manufacturing,
continuous improvement, industrial hygiene,
workplace safety, human engineering, facilities
improvement, computer integrated manufacturing,
or supply chain management, we can help.
We currently offer short courses and
certifications in many of these areas with more in
development. We offer an online MS
level program that complements engineering and
technology skills with that of engineering
management. But the
real goal,
the ultimate vision,
is to build a manufacturing center that allows
industry and student partners to work together
to innovate, design, research, and create a
world class education and manufacturing
environment. This is good for you.
It is good for South Dakota. It is good
for our students.
